In Memory of Lura Lawrenz

Bob and Lura Lawrenz loved the Lord and lived out their faith by loving and serving others. Refugees settling in Rockford, Illinois in the 1980s were welcomed with open arms and became lifelong friends. International students from their local college found their home-away-from-home with Bob and Lura. Upon retirement, Bob and Lura moved to Minnesota to be near their daughters and began searching for new ways to serve.

When Lura heard about an opportunity to teach English to international students at the University of Minnesota through Connexions International, she volunteered, and led a weekly class for a number of years. Later, Connexions was looking for a board member, so Bob joined the team and guided the ministry as it became an independent organization. They both enjoyed the ministry work, but most of all, they enjoyed getting to know the students, staff, and volunteers at CXI.

Their first Thanksgiving in Minnesota, Lura invited one of her students and her husband to join their family for the day--the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Bob and Lura’s association with the people and ministry of CXI brought fulfillment to their retirement years.

Their family would be honored if you would choose to bless this ministry with your gifts as we remember their legacy.
